Draconian Monolophosaurus v2

In a swamp on the east coast of North Arteria, a Monolphosaurus gezdeus chases down a juvenile Thescelodromeus martinensis through the water.  A small Pterosaurus flies off from feeding on small invertebrates.

Description:  This predator lives along the shorelines where they tend to feed on animals that wash ashore though they will actively hunt down dinosaurs, drakes, small wyverns, and dragonettes.  They have powerful arms that can, once the claws sink into it, can bring down a dragonette or wyvern back down to the ground.  They have a powerful bite which allows them to break bones and get at the marrow from inside.  They are covered in short brown feathers with the males having red stripes down the neck whereas the females have blue stripes.  They live solitary lives and have large expanses of territories that cover for miles.  They will drive any other individuals out of their territory and these fights rarely end with bloodshed. Instead, they stand as tall as they can and hiss, flashing colors on their crests.  Unlike other predators, they have very thick skin which seem to act like very primitive bullet proof armor.  They make small dugouts behind dunes on the beach, and this is where they slept and took small kills or pieces of carcasses back to feed in peace.  During mating season, the males will bring large fish to present as a gift for the female and if she accepts it, they mate and the male leaves.  The female then builds a nest and lays a clutch of 8-10 eggs, where they take care of them for around 13 weeks and then the young head out to live on their own. They live around 30 years.
